The Christmas Survey

I was tagged a while ago by Jenny, but just now had the chance to sit down and complete the "tag" :) And just in case you forgot....only TEN days until Christmas!!!!!!! Are you ready?!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Definitely wrapping paper...and it all must coordinate so that it looks just perfect under the tree. This year I got my paper in Canton and it's too cute!

2. Real tree or Artificial? Artificial...allergic to the real thing.

3. When do you put up the tree? The day after Thanksgiving...though this year we were a bit delayed in decorating as we were getting mom and dad settled into their new house Thanksgiving weekend!!

4. When do you take the tree down? Normally on New Year's Day or soon after.

5. Do you like eggnog? Ew sick, absolutely not!

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Oh my gosh, let me think...my grandpa made me an absolutely fabulous doll house, Uncle Craig got me a remote control barbie car that was way cool, mom and dad got me a microphone on a stand that sister and I performed MANY concerts with as well as a NKOTB doll that I loved, nanaw gave us precious pictures of our Papaw after he passed away...those are just a few that stand out :)

7. Hardest person to buy for? Hum, probably our dads...but I like to think that I do a pretty darn good job buying for everyone :) I love love love giving and buying gifts for the ones that I love!

8. Easiest person to buy for? Probably sister...she basically likes anything I would, so she is so easy and fun to buy for! Mom comes in a close second! :)

9. Do you have a nativity scene? No, but one day we will!

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail for sure...mine went out at the beginning of December :)

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Oh gosh, I can't think of one! Does that mean I'm spoiled?! :)

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Old School - Miracle on 34th Street, New - probably Elf

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I like to get it done as early as possible to avoid the masses at the malls that wait until the last minute!

14. Have you ever re-gifted a Christmas present? No, and if you have shame on you.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Oh this is a hard one...monkey bread for breakfast Christmas morning :)

16. Lights on the tree? A MUST! White/Clear only.

17. Favorite Christmas song? Winter Wonderland, Nutcracker medley, Joy To The World, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause (for a "fun/silly" one)...I could go on and on and I can't really pick a favorite, I love all Christmas music!

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Stay home...we are so blessed to have all of our immediate family in the Dallas area!

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Sure can...Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolph!!

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Star, but I love angels as well.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? We get one present on Christmas Eve...its always jammas so that we look cute for Christmas morning!

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Not ALL people get into the Christmas spirit, it's always annoying to run into a grinch while out shopping.

23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Our tree is White and Silver...it just reminds me of Christmas and puts me in the spirit.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Why turkey of course!

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? Ipod Boom Box, Single Serve Coffee Maker, NorthFace fleece, Tiffany's necklace, clothes, Versace perfume, CoCo Mademoiselle perfume, clothes, I made a Brighton wishlist, cute winter pj's, black tall boots, red flats, David Cook and David Archy CD's...and the list could go on :)

I am tagging...Emily, Natalie, Rachel, Kendall Stoy, Kendall Allen, Jen McCradey, Leslie, and Nicole.

Merry (almost) Christmas everyone!!

It's Like Heaven In Your Mouth

B E W A R E

...of the Mary Kay ladies! Apparently they are out in full force these last few months!

After being approached by a Mary Kay lady not to long ago while shopping at Target...Yesterday I was at Stonebriar mall during my lunch hour doing a little bit of Christmas shopping :), when all of a sudden, as I was approaching the Gap, I hear an "excuse me excuse me excuse me!" So after realizing that the "excuse me's" were for me because they were not stopping, I turned around and was greeted by a lady (who was cute and dressed nicely). Might I also add that she was completely out of breath because she literally chased me up the stairs! She told me that she thought I was just precious and so put together and she just had to come and talk to me (I knew she was up to something). After her speech of "I own my own business and am always looking for confident women"...it came out that she was a Mary Kay consultant.

Not that I was every really interested in what she was saying, because I knew from the beginning that she was up to something...selling something, a consultant, a recruiter, or something of the like...but when Mary Kay came out of her mouth I completely turned her off. So I politely listened to the rest of her speech and then she asked for my name, which I gave her my first name. And then she asked for my number, which I gave her!!!??! WHY WHY WHY DO PEOPLE ASK FOR YOUR NUMBER?! They must know that I am to nice to flat out say no. When people ask me for it, I automatically think there is NO WAY that I want this person to have my number, but I don't think fast enough to give them a wrong number and I feel like it would be rude to just say no. I know it wouldn't really be rude, and I'm sure that she get's a lot of no's...but none the less, I gave her my correct number and then walked away KICKING myself for doing so. Needless to say, I'll be screening my calls is in the near future!

Beware of the MK ladies! Coming soon to a mall near you!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

I don't know about you...but after this holiday weekend I am NOT in the mood to be at work today! During the whole month of December it is hard to be in the mood to work! (well at least for me anyways) All I want to do is play and enjoy the holiday season!! Last night I picked up our Christmas cards, and even if I do say so myself, they turned out pretty durn cute! I can't wait to get them all addressed and sent out to family and friends.

On a side note, WE MOVED MOM AND DAD INTO THEIR NEW HOUSE THIS WEEKEND! It is a beautiful beautiful home and we can not wait to get them all settled in and decorated up! I will post some pictures soon, promise :)

Four things on my "holiday to-do" for today:
-decorate our house for Christmas
-decide on a Christmas ring tone and download it for my iphone
-decide on holiday outfits because Christmas parties start THIS weekend!
-find a Christmas "ticker" to add to my blog

Happy holiday season everyone! I am counting down the days until CHRISTMAS! It's only the most wonderful holiday of all!!!!!!!!!

Side note: I realize that in my last post I wished everyone a happy Thanksgiving and now I am already onto Christmas....but in my world, the day after Thanksgiving, it's fair game to start getting ready for Christmas! :)
happy birthday meredith kay

Thanksgiving Day Is A Happy Day When We Say Thank You God

...Remember singing that song when you were little?!

Just wanted to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving holiday! I hope that you get to spend it with the ones you love most!

On a side note...mom and dad CLOSE ON THEIR HOUSE TOMORROW!!! We could not be more excited! It felt like this day would never come, and now it is finally here! Needless to say, this weekend we will be helping them get all moved in, decorated, and celebrating their beautiful beautiful new home! What an exciting thing to be thankful for!

Life With The Lipman's...Lately

Here is an update, through pictures, on what's been going on lately...

Bekah's Senior Homecoming was a few weekends ago...she looked just beautiful!

I know we had already been once, but Julie and Blaine snagged us some free teacher appreciation state fair tickets, so we went and made an afternoon of it! I sure do love a fletcher's state fair corn dog and root beer! (though my tummy does not love me for it afterwards!)

This past weekend Mellie and Sean had BYX formal...here are a few pictures I borrowed from her to share :) Such a good looking couple! They are so so so precious!

On Saturday we went to the pumpkin patch with the Chamberlain's and had a blast...I think Julie and I decided that that is going to become one of our many Lipman/Chamberlian traditions! We have yet to carve our pumpkins, but once we do I will post some pictures! After the patch, the boys went and rocked it out at Edge Fest and the girls went shopping :)

Our sweet little Bo is just doing wonderful! We love him to pieces and can't get enough of his precious little personality. This is what he does when we try to fold laundry...he grabs a piece of it, takes it for his own, and then looks up at you like it was always his when you try to get it back! haha

I found a pair of black flats....I'm actually wearing them today with some black pants and a cardigan...what do you think of the shoes??

We found out that mom and dad are going to close on their house the day before Thanksgiving!!! SO exciting! I know what we will be doing that weekend! :)

We need to go vote vote vote!!! Have you been?!

I hope that everyone is having a fabulous Tuesday!

Monday Monday

I was tagged by sweet Kendall...and this was a fun way to help pass this never ending Monday afternoon! :) Enjoy!

What were you doing 10 years ago?
10 years ago I was finishing up my first semester of high school! Oh my word that makes me feel so old!!! I would have just gotten my drivers permit, so I'm sure I was begging my parents to let me drive everywhere! I'm sure I thought I was too cool for the world, and can I just say that I do not miss being in high school and all the drama that came along with it one bit! haha

List 5 things on your "to do" list today:
1. Trade in my Blackberry (that I just got on Saturday) for an iphone...Drew got an iphone and even though I had convinced myself that I didn't "need" one, after playing with his, I have decided that I "want" one...really bad. :) So I need to head back up to AT&T for a switcheroo this evening.
2. Pay some bills, yuck
3. Watch Jon & Kate Plus 8, One Tree Hill, and The Hills
4. Laundry, another yuck...it's just never done...not something that you can check off your list because there is always more piling up...I like to check things off my list
5. Get caught up on emails

Favorite snacks:
I'm not a huge snack person...but if I do need a snack I usually head for:
Apples or Strawberries
Popcorn
Gold Fish
Honey Wheat Pretzels

What would you do with an unlimited supply of money?
Wow, where do I even begin?! I would pay off student loans, buy a big beautiful house and furnish and decorate it to the hilt, trade my Honda in for some type of fabulous SUV, buy my husband the F-150 4x4 (and whatever else he needs it to include) that he is dying to have, pay for the rest of Mellie's school, buy my parents house that they are building so that they can retire faster, give money to several charities (which I would have a difficult time deciding between) and give money to our church, go on a major shopping spree, travel the world with the ones I love...oh I could really go on and on with my unlimited supply of money in my little dream world :)

Where have you lived?
Carrollton, Texas...College Station, Texas (whoop!)...and now Dallas, Texas...with a hopeful future move to Frisco/McKinney, Texas :)

Where have you worked?
High School: Armstrong Relocation
College: Armstrong Relocation and Mohawk Moving & Storage...I had the pleasure of not working while I was down at A&M :)
Post College: Northwestern Mutual for one long year (haha), and now I work for Tenet Healthcare which I absolutely love!

Who are you tagging?
I am tagging Jen Canady, Rach, Em, Natalie, and Nicole.

How High Is Too High?!

Today I went to DSW on my lunch hour in search of a black flat. I must admit...I have a black flat issue...I think that they look horrible on me when I have jeans on. I don't know what it is about a black flat that I can't seem to get over, but I am bound and determined to find a pair of shoes that will work for me! Black flats should be a staple in one's closet for goodness sake! While I was looking around I tried on several different styles from their extensive collection, but none of them were doin it for me...so I got a little side tracked and started trying on other shoes :) I found these precious shoes and just had to have them!

So, I put the shoe on my foot and OUCH! Either those heels are getting higher or I am loosing my edge! I have NEVER had a problem with heels...I am a heel girl to the heart...I would pick heels over flats any day! (but to preserve my feet, I am wearing flats more and more!) These were the most uncomfortable, but oh so cute, pair of shoes that I have put on my feet in a long time. Such a sad day to not be able to pull off a pair of 3 1/1 inch heels...but I blame the shoe...give me another 3 1/2 inch heel any day and I will strut my stuff all day long! Needless to say, I left the store without the shoes and feeling very much like an oldie.

25 Years of Wonderful

My 25th birthday was so fabulous! I was spoiled rotten and my birthday continued on for over a week...which if you know me well at all, you know that this is exactly how I like to do birthdays :) Thank you to everyone for making my birthday extra special! (see pictures at the very bottom of this post)

My birthday week started last Tuesday when Rach and Stac took me to a yummy early birthday lunch. It was my plan to snap a pic with those two cute preggers, but I forgot my camera! The day continued on with a celebration with the Lipman's. We had dinner at Desperado's (mexican food of course!) and then went over to the house for presents and cake! Delightful!

Wednesday was my actual birthday! I was greeted with birthday cards, flowers, a flower delivery, and happy birthday's all day long at work. Mom took me to a wonderful birthday lunch at Salt Grass...soup and salad, yum! I love our birthday lunches each year now that I am workin girl :) My boss got me a $50 gift card to Nordstrom's (only one of my favorite places to shop!) and then surprised me with cupcakes from the Cupcakery Wednesday afternoon! The multi flavored cupcakes were complete with lit candles and the whole office sang happy birthday to me! They spoiled me and did way to much, but I enjoyed every minute of it! On Wednesday night mom, dad, drew and I all went out to dinner at Gloria's...we went low key since the real celebration was this weekend while sister was home! It was a wonderful birthday day!!!!

On Friday sister came home to celebrate and spend the weekend with us! Friday night was my special birthday dinner night with Drew. He surprised me with dinner at Dakota's in downtown Dallas...if you have never been you must go! You walk up to an elevator that is on ground level and then you ride the elevator down to the restaurant...it is the neatest place! We sat outside and the scenery was wonderfully romantic, the dinner was delicious, and the company even better...I'm a lucky girl. It was a fabulous birthday evening with my one true love. :)

Saturday the day started with breakfast at LePeep's with the fam...nothing beats a yummy breakfast and a cup of hazelnut coffee. After breakfast we went to see mom and dad's house! It is coming along and it is so so exciting to watch the development! (pictures soon to come). We spent the afternoon shopping and just spending time together. Saturday night we made the long haul over to Fort Worth for dinner on Joe T. Garcia's outside patio. It was delicious and such an experience! Once again, if you have never been, you must go! After dinner we did presents and cake and then Drew and I took sister out to celebrate her 21st birthday "officially!" :)

Sunday we got up, spent some family time together, had lunch, and then sister had to get on the road to head back to College Station. It was sad to see her go, always is, but I am SO grateful and thankful that she came home to celebrate my birthday with me! :) Sunday afternoon Drew took me shopping...it was my birthday gift :) What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon...shopping with my hubby!

Last but not least, on Monday mom and Drew had the day off from work...so dad and I decided to take the day off to join them. We spent the day at the Texas State Fair...a Pasche tradition for as long as I can remember!

So....as you can see....it was a week full of BIRTHDAY!!! Thank you to everyone who made it so special! I love you all dearly!

My Dearest Birthday Girl,

I can not believe that my little sister is turning TWENTY-ONE today! It seems like just yesterday we were playing dress up and barbie dolls (what wonderful memories we will always have together!). I am so so very proud of the beautiful woman that you have become! I hope that on this very special birthday, you feel extra special, and are reminded of how much you mean to me! I love you best friend...more than you could ever possibly know. Thank you for always being there for me and for being someone that I truly look up to. Happy birthday!!! With Love...Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday to the woman that I look up to, admire, respect, and strive to be like...to the woman that I have the privilege to call mom and am blessed to have as one of my very best friends. I love you more than you could possibly know momma and I hope that this year on your birthday, you have an extra wonderful day filled with love because you deserve nothing but the best. Thank you for all that do you for us! We love you!

Addicted

I know that some (including my husband) think that One Tree Hill might be silly, drama filled, and unrealistic...but I must admit, I L-O-V-E the show. The season started this week and I can't wait to find out what will happen next! The show is addicting I tell ya, and it's got me!

Randomness On A Monday

I was thinking this morning of everyone going back to school...and after having been in Aggieland last weekend, I must admit, Drew and I were missing the college "not a care in the world" lifestyle! We would not trade our life now for anything and we LOVE our life, but the memories that you are overwhelmed with when you go back to College Station makes you miss it. This week during the first week of school was always so fun, because really you didn't have much to do other than play! I do not miss the class/tests/papers part of school though, that, I never want to experience again! So here's to you all of my "first day of school" kiddos, enjoy every moment!

I love granola now. It's strange, I always was afraid to try it (maybe it was the raisins staring me in the face), but I took the plunge, in my attempt to eat a little healthier, and love it (minus the raisins :)). On a side note, I tried yogurt again and I still hate it. Wish I liked it, but it's just not happening!

I got my hair cut...yup got THREE inches cut off, and I love it! I loved my long hair, but was wanting something a little different. It's still to my collar bone, so its not really short, but its sassy and I love it! Speaking of hair, our hairdryer and my straightener are on there last leg (why do things always go out at the same time?!). I think I am going to go by new ones because it would be just my luck to have them go out while I was getting ready in the morning! Any suggestions on a good blow dryer or straightener? I don't think I will take the Chi plunge yet...Chi's make my hair toooo straight, I definitely still like some body and need some body in this hair of mine!

On Saturday night my hubby took me out on a date night! It was LONG overdue and we had SO much fun! We hit up Chuy's for some yummy texmex and margs and then went to the movies. With life going 100 miles a minute lately and with the newest addition to our family, we needed some alone time...it was glorious! AND Saturday was our 14 month anniversary! I love you so much Drew!

Speaking of the newest addition to our family...he is such a little rascal and we love him with all of our heart!!! We have a play pin set up in our kitchen area for him that we can put him in, for instance, when I am getting ready in the morning and Drew is not up yet, that way his is not in his crate and he is able to run around and eat breakfast and what not (I'm pretty sure that sentence is far to long to be "correct"). Wellll, he has figured out how to fit through the bars of the gate and has become quite the little escape artist! On Saturday morning, I got up at 6am to take him outside to potty, then wanted to get back in bed for at least thirty more minutes, so I put him in his play pin. About 15 minutes later I hear a scratch on our bedroom door, it was our little guy wanting to come in and say good morning! I must admit that when he breaks out he always runs right to find us and has not yet gotten into anything (knock on wood!) He is so adorable! I have some pictures of him that I took this weekend that I will post later once I get a chance to upload them.

I have added a new section to my blog that is a mixture of some of my favorite things! "Crafty, Cooking, Design, Fashionista, Suzie Homemaker Blogs I Love"...check it out when you are bored to get some great ideas from other blogs! Speaking of, lately I have had the itch to shop in a bad way...it's a good thing my birthday is not to far away! :)

Right now, I have two favorite songs...that I'm sure will only be favs for a short time because in no time at all I'm sure that 106.1 will wear them out! Jessie McCartney's "Leavin'" and Kidd Rock's "All Summer Long"...when either one of them come on I simply can not resist crankin the radio up! They are both great songs...you can't help but enjoy them by singing at the top of your lungs and dancing it out while they are on! :)

To wrap up my randomness, this weekend was just wonderful! Drew and I were so very productive...it always makes for a better Monday and a better week for that matter, when you can leave the house on Monday morning with a full fridge, clean clothes, and a clean house.

Cheers to a great week everyone!
